Illustrated with fifty black & white photographic plates, including frontispiece. Very good. Covers lightly edgeworn, with four-inch scrape to grey paper of upper cover; spine moderately sunned. Some very light spotting to edges, outer margins, front and rear matter. Text otherwise rather clean and bright. Binding square and tight.
Noted American folklorist, conservationist, diplomat etc. Henry W. Shoemaker's copy, with his charming signed bookplate to front pastedown.
